Past Perfect Continuous Tense
This tense is used to denote an action that began before a certain point in the past and continued up to sometime in past.
The Past Perfect Continuous Tense is commonly used with time expressions like:

Sub + had been +V1 + ing + .........
For example
I had been teaching English Grammar for 2 hours when my friend reached school.
It had been raining till 9 0 clock in the morning.
Junaid had been playing volley ball since 3 o clock when I came here.
Before I completed my Graduation, my brother Raju had been working in this University.
They had been playing before I reached to school.
Ravi had been traveling around the world since the month of December.
They had been playing cricket in the ground for three hours.
The lyricist had been writing realistic songs since the beginning of his career.

Rule - 1 Duration Before Something in the Past
Past Perfect Continuous Tense is used to show that something started in the past and continued up until another time in the past. "For five minutes" and "for two weeks" are the phrases which can be used with the Past Perfect Continuous.
For example
They had been talking for an hour before the movie started.
How long had you been playing in the ground?
